The Truckee River in Reno, Photo #5

The Truckee River runs through Reno. A paved path for hiking, jogging and biking follows the Truckee River for its entire distance through Reno (from the west side of town all the way to the eastern edge of Sparks). There is a plan to extend the bikeway all the way from Tahoe to Pyramid Lake, but with the economy the way it is - that plan might be a while in the making!

Since the Truckee River drains Lake Tahoe, during periods of high water the Truckee River is prone to flooding during abnormally wet periods or times of very fast snow melt in warm and wet weather.
