Harrison Pass in the Ruby Mountains

Harrison Pass in the Ruby Mountains

Harrison Pass is a "short-cut" that leads from the Ruby Valley back over to the Lamoille Valley and Elko. The actual Ruby Valley Scenic Drive doesn't go across this pass, as the drive sticks to the valley floor. However, reaching Harrison Pass is simple from the Ruby Valley - involving just a eight mile one-way detour. The road isn't open all year - just during the late-spring through late-fall period. Additionally, the road isn't well maintained - so it can be slow going. That said, the views are excellent from Harrison Pass. Moreover, Harrison Pass is an ideal place to begin a hike - as it's one of the few high-elevation trailheads in the Ruby Mountains of Nevada.
