Photographs of Pioche, Nevada

Pioche is located in eastern Nevada on US Highway 93, about twenty five miles north of Caliente. Pioche is an historic Nevada town, and also once had a reputation as a "very rough" town, too. In addition to it's colorful history, Pioche was once a mining boom town. An aerial tramway was built to transport the ore from the mine to town (and the railroad). While the mine is long gone, the aerial tramway remains.

Pioche is also the southern jumping off point for the Mt. Wilson Backcountry Scenic Drive.
