Desert Plants and the Newberry Mountains

Desert Plants and the Newberry Mountains

As the road gets closer to the Newberry Mountains, the Christmas Tree Pass Scenic Drive becomes quite scenic, with desert vegetation providing a nice relief from the harsh desert vegetation found down in the lower elevations around Laughlin. The Newberry Mountains are just high enough to escape the scorching heat found down below along the Colorado River, and the mountains are able to squeeze just enough moisture from the atmosphere during the winter months to allow many different types of desert plants to grow.
