Thunderstorm Over the Toiyabe Mountains

The Big Smoky Valley is located in Central Nevada, to the South and East of Austin and to the North and East of Tonopah. Unlike many valleys in Nevada, the Big Smoky Valley can be reached on a paved highway, Highway 376.

The Big Smoky Valley is a very beautiful place that few people ever see. To the west lie the huge Toiyabe Mountains, which is home to the Arc Dome Wilderness Area. To the east sits te Toquima Mountains, which, while not as tall as the Toiyabe Mountains, still dominate the eastern skyline. (more…)
