Horses Grazing in Secret Valley

Horses Grazing in Secret Valley

This gallery showcases various sights you’ll find in the Northern Ruby Valley and the Secret Valley of Northeast Nevada. Both of these valleys are located in the vicinity of Wells. These valleys are both beautiful…with the Ruby Mountains dominating the skyline.

The Secret Valley is sort of an “off-shoot” of the Ruby Valley, as it is hidden and not really obvious it is there since it connected to the Ruby Valley. A paved road, Highway 229, cuts though this valley and heads over a less than impressive pass called Secret Pass. (more…)

Southern Ruby Valley & Ruby Marsh Photographs : Gallery 2

Green Grass in the Ruby Valley

Green Grass in the Ruby Valley

This is the second gallery that showcases the southern part of the beautiful Ruby Valley in Northeast Nevada. The southern portion of the Ruby Valley is the most isolated part of the Ruby Valley. And considering how isolated and remote the Ruby Valley is, that is saying quite a bit!

You can reach the Ruby Valley either by following the highway that goes over Secret Pass or by going South from Wells on Highway 93 and then cutting over on the highway whose name currently escapes me. Regardless, you can access the central and northern sections of the Ruby Valley on paved roads, which is nice. (more…)

Southern Ruby Valley & Ruby Marsh Photographs : Gallery 1

Ruby Marsh and Ruby Mountains

Ruby Marsh and Ruby Mountains

This particular photo gallery showcases the views one gets when visiting the SOUTHERN part of the Ruby Valley, which basically lies to the south of Ruby Marsh. I especially love this part of the refuge as the mountains rise abruptly off the Ruby Valley floor and the Ruby Valley itself marches seemingly onward forever to the North. You also get wonderful views of Ruby Marsh itself, too. (more…)

Snowy Peaks of the Ruby Mountains

Snowy Peaks of the Ruby Mountains

This gallery showcases the Ruby Mountains, particularly the higher peaks found towards the southern end. Additionally, you’ll see photographs of Ruby Marsh itself, which is part of the Ruby Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. The Ruby Valley itself is absolutely gorgeous…and rarely visited. The valley is massive…easily over 60 miles in length and about 20 miles in width. And don’t expect to find anything here either besides nature….as the one town…Ruby Valley…has exactly one year-round resident and no services. (more…)

Photoblog : The Ruby Valley & The Ruby Mountains

April 9th, 2007

I absolutely love the Ruby Valley of Northeast Nevada. The valley is truly massive…extending north to south as far as the eye can see. When you are in the southern part of the valley, it extends so far to the north that you can’t see the end in fact. And this is what I love about Nevada….massive, unhindered views.  (more…)

Photoblog : Sunset in the Northern Ruby Valley of Nevada

April 9th, 2007

This photo was taken in mid-May in the Northern Ruby Valley of Northeast Nevada. The Ruby Valley is a place few people even know about, let alone ever bother to visit. Yet the valley itself is beautiful…and exceptionally remote. From where this photo was taken, the nearest town…Wells…is around 40-50 miles away.  (more…)
