Tioga Lake in Yosemite National Park
Beautiful Tioga Lake near Tioga Pass. In late June don’t in a good snow year like the winter of 2005/2006 was, don’t be surprised at all to see tons of snow here. And yes…it is a beautiful lake.

About this Gallery of Yosemite National Park

The photographs in this gallery show some of the sights you’ll see on the drive up to Tioga Pass and the “technical” beginning of Yosemite National Park on the west side of the park. The Tioga Pass Road begins in Nevada actually and makes a long climb up to Tioga Pass…where Yosemite National Park technically begins. Along the way, the road goes through numerous life zones…with the lower parts of the drive being remarkably dry due to the rain shadow effect that the Sierra Mountains provide. But as you climb higher…and Tioga Pass sits at 12,000 feet…you’ll run into more trees and much, much more snow. You’ll also find several beautiful lakes, such as Tioga Lake and Ellery Lake.
