North Steptoe Valley Photographs

About the Steptoe Valley and This Photo Gallery

The Steptoe Valley is a gorgeous valley that many travelers through Nevada sort of see. They may not see the true beauty of the valley itself, but since Highway 93 cuts right through the valley…many people do at least get a glimpse of it.

The Steptoe Valley is VERY long…extending from about 30 miles South of Ely for about 50 miles to the North of Ely…thus being somewhere in the vicinity of 80 miles in length. The width of the Valley varies from about 5 miles all the way up to 30 miles…depending on where you are.

I have many photos of various spots in and around the Steptoe Valley on Exploring Nevada. This particular gallery, however, covers ONLY the views one gets while traveling down a lonely dirt road that goes between the tiny town of Currie and the equally small town of Cherry Creek. This particular road…I have no idea what it is named…basically follows the eastern side of the Cherry Creek Mountains and passes right by the Goschute Canyon Wilderness Study Area.

I found this ride to be very enjoyable…and didn’t see a single vehicle despite spending an hour on the road. Then again…this is remote Nevada. What should I have been expecting? A traffic jam???
