Dried Wash and the Toiyabe Range
A rapidly developing thunderstorm develops over the Toiyabe Range, seen from the middle of a dried lake bed in the Big Smoky Valley. This thunderstorm would soon ruin my day.

About This Gallery

I was hoping on having many, many more photographs of the Big Smoky Valley when I passed through here during the summer. But alas…thunderstorms kept me running and made lousy photographic conditions. As a result…I didn’t get many good photos of the Big Smoky Valley.

In any event, these photographs were taken in May 2006, and show the Big Smoky Valley of Central Nevada. This valley is located to theĀ east of the Toiyabe Mountains and to the west of the Toquima Range. The town of Hadley sits right in the middle of the valley, but beyond that…there is little of anything here except massive, sweeping views and gorgeous mountains. A paved highway, State Highway 376, cuts through the middle of the valley…making the Big Smoky Valley one of the more accessible valleys in Nevada.
