Nevada State & National Park Photographs

Nevada has quite the array of state parks, which are spread all over the place. Additonally, many of the nicest state parks are truly located “out in the middle of nowhere.” In other words…some effort…sometimes a great deal of effort…is needed to reach them. This is especially true for the parks in Eastern and Central Nevada….trips to these parks can sometimes require up to 50 miles of travel to reach on long, bumpy dirt roads!

Nevada only has 1 designated National Park…Great Basin National Park. But what a park it is! And is well worth the time and effort spent to see it. Unlike many of the state parks in Nevada, Great Basin is easily reached by paved road and is located just outside the tiny town of Baker.

The parks in Nevada, as you can probably guess, tend to be lightly used outside of the handful of ones around Lake Tahoe and in the vicinity of Las Vegas. This is both due to the distance to reach them…as well as the simple and somewhat sad fact that few people even know that these parks exist!
