Photos of the Western Side of Great Basin National Park
January 17th, 2009Great Basin National Park is the lone National Park in Nevada. It is also, compared to most other National Parks, seldom visited. And, consideirng how beautiful the place is, I guess that is a good thing.
This is the second photo gallery on this site that showcases Great Basin National Park. This gallery shows photos taken of the high peaks of the park from the west side, particularly from the Spring Valley.
Photos of Great Basin National Park are notable for one thing…a very sheer rise off the valley floor. The Spring Valley has a base elevation of just 4000 feet. Yet, Wheeler Peak…the highest mountain in Great Basin National Park…rises a smidgeon above 13,000 feet. As such, when viewed from the west, the mountain peaks of Great Basin National Park just dominate the view.
