The Lamoille Valley of Northeast Nevada

The Lamoille Valley of Northeast Nevada

The Lamoille Valley is located in Northeast Nevada, and sits to the west of the Ruby Mountain Range. It’s a very beautiful valley….at least if you like huge, sweeping valleys flanked by towering…usually snow-capped…peaks.

Unlike many valleys in Nevada, the Lamoille Valley isn’t out in the total middle of nowhere. Highway 227 connects the valley and the town of Lamoille to the nearby “city” of Elko. And due to the booming nature of Elko…significant building is occurring in the Lamoille Valley of new homes and such. Yet…if you head to the North or the South of Lamoille…essentially paralleling the Ruby Mountains…you’ll soon find yourself out in the middle of nowhere.

Lastly, the Lamoille Valley has a significant amount of agriculture going on. The water comes from both aquifers as well as, especially, captured water from the snow-melt off the Ruby Mountains. During the spring run-off season, parts of the Lamoille Valley can be simply “strikingly green”, at least by Nevada standards.
