Photoblog : The Ruby Valley & The Ruby Mountains

Photoblog : The Ruby Valley & The Ruby Mountains

I absolutely love the Ruby Valley of Northeast Nevada. The valley is truly massive…extending north to south as far as the eye can see. When you are in the southern part of the valley, it extends so far to the north that you can’t see the end in fact. And this is what I love about Nevada….massive, unhindered views.

And of course, what makes the Ruby Valley so special is that the valley is flanked directly to the west by the towering Ruby Mountains…one of the tallest mountain ranges in the state, especially when measured by the vertical rise of the mountains off the valley floor.

The Ruby Valley also is a wonderful place to view wildlife in Nevada. The Ruby Valley National Wildlife Refuge is located smack dab in the middle of the valley…with Ruby Marsh being the focal point of the wildlife refuge. At first, the water really can look like a lake and it is a sizable body of water. However, upon closer inspection you’ll see that the water is quite shallow and tends to be broken up into many smaller pools. Still, you can fit a boat on the lake…it just can’t be motorized.
