Where to Eat Thai Food in RenoI’m a thai food junky. Ever since I first tried Thai food in, of all places, Kalispell, Montana…I’ve fallen in love with the food. I especially enjoy Thai food because it is so diverse as well as because it is, or can be, very spicy…yes, I’m a spice-a-holic. I also prefer Thai food over Chinese food because so much Chinese food simply tastes the same if not done well. As such, when I first moved to Reno in 2005 I was on the look-out for good Thai places. And happily, I’ve found a few and thought I would list them here in the event anyone else stumbles into Reno with a Thai food addiction. The Best Thai Restaurant in Reno - Taste of ThaiTaste of Thai - This is a superb Thai restaurant. Their Spicy Stir Fried Rice and Spicy Noodle dish is quite simply a dish to die for. The restaurant is a true authentic Thai restaurant…forget about getting “watered down” Thai food here. The restaurant itself is quiet, nicely decorated and quiet. I’ll write up a review on this restaurant in another post…but for now, suffice it to say, if in search of Thai food in Reno, this IS the place to go. Thai Lotus - The Thai Lotus restaurant is located in the parking lot of the Home Depot on Virginia Street. It is also located 2 blocks from where I live, a rather nice coincidence. I find this restaurant be also be quite good, and the owner is especially nice. I’ve found the food to be very good but perhaps not at the same level as is found at the Taste of Thai. Additionally, the “spice level” of their foods…crucial for me…isn’t as high. Even their Spicy Stir Fried Rice, ordered at the maximum spice level, I found to be a bit weak and also lacked a bit of the flavor found in the Spicy Stir Fried Rice you get at the Taste of Thai. Still, I had no real complaints. Bangkok House - This is another great Thai Restaurant here in Reno. It is located just off Virginia street south 2 miles south of the downtown. I’ve only eaten here once, so can’t make too many comments about it except to say that their Pad Thai is simply delicious. I’ll make a point of getting back here a few more times so I can write up a bit more about it. Categories : My Reviews, Restaurant Reviews Date Posted : April 8, 2007 |
