New Format for Exploring Nevada
Yes…you are not going blind. The old Exploring Nevada site is gone. And in it’s place has emerged a blog/photoblog/adventure guide site. The site itself is now powered by the WordPress blog publishing system. I then customized the look of the blog to match, more or less, the looks of the old Exploring Nevada site.
The reasons for making this change are many. They include :
- Vastly easier to create content
- Vastly quicker to create content
- Far easier to organize and manage the site
- Allow for user input via comments
- To give me a platform to turn a “generic travel site” into a blog/photoblog about Nevada, where I’ll end up writing about just about anything that hits my fancy, from reviews of places, restaurants, lists of things to do (not to do), and just about anything else that seems remotely interesting to me.
- To expand the reach of the site into the blogosphere, hopefully removing the dependence of the site on the search engines for traffic
- And, probably most importantly, the new format has put the fun back into web sites again. The writing on this site will be done with a “attitude,” and won’t be in a generic travel guide format.
So, as I’m essentially starting over on the site, there isn’t much here at the moment. But over the summer this site will be vastly expanding…including having 2000+ photos…as I can now create pages so much easier and quicker. Hopefully anyone who reads this or visits this site will enjoy the final product.
